Installation Procedure of Progress WebClient

Before you can start using the Query Desk System, you need to follow the following steps to install Progress WebClient from the internet.

Installing Progress Web Client:

Step 1:Open your Internet browser by clicking on the internet icon icon on your desktop.  


Step 2:Enter the following address http://qdesk.qbcon.com and press Enter. This will open the Query Desk home page.

Step 3:NB: Wait for the page to download completely and then click on the FrontEnd link.

This action will open the following Progress WebClient Download page.

Step 3:NB: Wait for the page to download completely and then click on install now  
 
This will open the InstallShield Wizard that will prepare the setup.  
 
Note: Make sure to check the check box to always trust software published by Progress Software Corporation and select the button next1 button. If you do not wish to install the application select button cancel- to exit the setup.

InstallShield Wizard will download all the files required by WebClient. You can minimize the dialog box and continue using your computer. You will be notified when this step as completed. Select the button cancel- button to cancel the installation procedure.

Step 4:To continue the installation procedure, click on the button next button. This action will bring up the product license agreement, or to cancel the installation procedure, select the button cancel- button.

Read the license agreement carefully. If you accept all the terms of the agreement, select the button yes3 button to install WebClient, or the button no4 button to close the setup. To go back to the previous step of the installation procedure select the button back button.  


Step 5:The setup will ask you if your computer is part of a local network that uses an HTTP proxy server. If your computer is part of a local network and the network uses an HTTP proxy server, the proxy server may require applications to specify the proxy server address when they connect to the internet. If you do not know if your computer is part of a local network that uses a proxy server, contact your System Administrator.  
 
If you already installed Webclient:  
To see if webclient need a proxy: Click on the Start menu and go to PSC Webclient 9.1D and click on Progress Webclient Application Manager. Write down the settings for Proxy Host and Proxy Port exactly as it is on the dialogue box, you will need it later to configure the Webclient proxy. Skip this step if there is nothing configured.

·If your computer is part of a Local Network, ask your System Administrator for the address and the port number, select the button yes button and follow steps 6 to 20  

·If you're not part of a Local Network, select the button no4 button and follow steps 7 to 20  


Step 6:Enter the Proxy Host and Proxy Port number obtained from your System Administrator.

After entering the address and proxy port number select the button next1 button to continue the installation procedure. To cancel the installation procedure select the button cancel- button. To go back to the previous step of the installation procedure select the button back button.  


Step 7:Next you'll be required to specify a destination location. The InstallShield Wizard will choose a default destination folder, but it you want to install it to a different folder, click the button browse button and select another folder.

To install this folder, select the button next1 button, or if you choose to cancel the installation procedure select the button cancel- button. To go back to the previous step of the installation procedure select the button back button.  


Step 8:On the next dialog box you have to select a program folder to which setup will add program icons. You may type a new folder name, or select one from the existing folders list.

To select the default program folder that the setup has created (PSC WebClient 9.1D), select the button next1 button, or select button cancel- to cancel the installation procedure. To go back to the previous step of the installation procedure select the button back button.  


Step 9:Next the InstallShield Wizard will require that you choose the desired language for messages. Select English (International) and then select the button next1 button or select button cancel- to cancel the installation procedure.

Step 10:Choose a location for your WebClient applications. Choose the default destination location (C:\Program Files\WebClientApps) created by the setup or select the button browse button and select another location.

To select the default destination location setup has created select the button next1 button, or select button cancel- to cancel the installation procedure. To go back to the previous step of the installation procedure select the button back button.  


Step 11:At this point setup has enough information to start copying the program files. The next dialog box allow you to review or change any settings. If you want to change any settings, select the button back button to go back to the previous steps of the installation procedure. If you're satisfied with the settings, select the button next1 button to begin copying files.

Step 12:Next the WebClient Setup will update the registry and perform the requested operations, you can however cancel the installation procedure at any time by selecting the button cancel- button.

Step 13:InstallShield Wizard will notify you when setup has finished installing 'WebClient' on your computer. Please wait for this notification.

   Select the button finish button.  

      
Step 14:Now the request will be sent to download the application. At this stage you don't have to do anything.

Step 15:After downloading WebClient successfully you will receive a dialog box stating that you are about to install an application provided by QBCON - Quality Business Consultants (Pty) Ltd.

If you wish to continue, select the button yes2 button, or otherwise select the button no5 button. Selecting the button yes2 button will start sending the request to download the Query Desk System. The system tasks will then be performed. You can cancel the request at any time by selecting cancel button.

You can cancel the download process at any time by selecting the clip0015 button.

Step 16:Next an Unsuccessful File Registration message will be displayed. These files used for reporting purposes, will be registered when you reboot your computer. To continue select the clip0014 button.

Step 17:The next message displayed, will ask if you want to reboot you computer. You must reboot your computer to successfully register the files.

Select the button yes button to reboot you computer. If you want to reboot your computer at a later stage, select the button no1 button.  


Step 18:Note that the Query Desk application will be ready for use after you reboot your computer. Select the clip0014 button and close your internet browser.

Step 19:After you rebooted your computer you will notice that the Query Desk icon icon querydesk was dropped on you desktop.  
        
Step 20: You can now access the Query Desk System by double clicking on the icon on your desktop. Refer to Start Up and Loggon.
